I cannot explain it.
I just know.
I know you,
and you have
known me, too.
Where did we meet?
Was it
in times gone by?
Was it ...?
You too were a leader,
a courageous defender
of hearth and home,
providing for children
while your mate
was gone.
You have returned,
again serving others --
in higher service
to an age-long calling.
You have grown!
Ah, sweet spirit child
you have taken
the lead toward growth,
leaving others
behind.
Oh, black-haired beauty,
hair the same as before,
more than the
haunting memory
of a spirit gone by.
How can I explain
of having already
felt your heart beat,
and heard the rush
of your breath
upon my ear in the night?
How do I know you?
Oh, so well.
I came back
to unfinished business,
and unknowingly,
to you as well.
