Prefatory Paragraphs for the “Poet” of
HolisticSoul
The 100 plus poems I’ve written since I was
a teenager could easily be grouped into a
half dozen categories: existential-life
development with all its agonies,
spiritually related, creator related,
romantic, karmic-vision, and others. I will
begin “Poet” by including one poem in each
category, and add poems as time goes on.
The category “Karmic-Vision” is one that
came into my life soon after my return from
Viet Nam, 1969. I began to have “waking
visions” that can best be described as not
hallucinatory. They appeared in my waking
consciousness much like a transparent
drop-down on a computer screen. I was and am
able to continue doing my day’s work or
whatever I am doing and “see” this vision in
my mind screen. At first I thought it was
just my imagination, but these had a much
different, richer, dimensional aspect to
them that imaginings do not. And they
unfolded as a story would without effort on
my part.
It took years before I came to understand
what they were – visions of past lives and
visions of future lives. I don’t know how to
explain their origin, whether they are
“real” or not, but they have been
entertaining, though not distracting from my
daily life.
